ABOUT ME
Maggie Nehlsen
I'm Maggie Nehlsen, a trained Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, and Newborn Care Specialist. I've had the pleasure of supporting families in these roles for the last five years. Originally from the Augusta area, I'm proud to once again call this community home. I studied at both the University of Georgia and the University of South Carolina, and have since had the privilege of living, training, and practicing as a doula in The Netherlands, Austin, TX, and Salt Lake City, UT.
Supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is not just my profession, it's my passion. I'm dedicated to providing evidenced-based care and always meeting families with empathy and respect. I bring a warm, grounding presence as well as an open mind and heart to every family I support.
In my personal life I find joy in the outdoors, curling up with a good book, and spending time with my wife and cats. I'm truly excited to be back in Augusta and honored to offer my services to families in the CSRA.
MY APPROACH
My Birth Philosophy
​As a doula, I offer inclusive support to every client by honoring their unique identities, experiences, and choices throughout their reproductive journey. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals and families of all backgrounds-regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, cultural background, ability, or family structure-feel respected and empowered.
My approach is rooted in active listening and a commitment to ongoing learning. I tailor my care to reflect each client's values and needs, advocate for their voices to be heard, and ensure they have access to the information and resources necessary to make informed decisions. Inclusivity is not just a practice, but a core value in the way I support, uplift, and walk alongside every client.
